Falling Up

Fall.

Mostly we think of the days ahead as a winding down of sorts. The settling into familiar norms after the fleeting chaos of sun soaked serotonin boosts.

I think, however, it can behoove us to think more in the direction of a fresh beginning instead of a recompense for a little too much relaxation. Though thoughts of awakening are typically reserved for spring, what if we granted ourselves the opportunity to make new, now?

My tendency as the year dwindles is to think about all of the items on my to-do list that never quite got to done. To think of ways I wasted my freer time and become slightly consumed with shouldas. Wouldas. And a couple of couldas. At least.

In this season, however, I have shifted perspectives as the latter has done the same. I choose to, as leaves turn warm hues amidst cool breezes, fill myself with as much gratitude as I do seasonal coffee beves - no pumpkin.

Though certain aspects of prior days are whittling away, to be sure, they are not gone, over or wanting. Not to mention, whatever I did actually leave undone, grace has always had a way of finishing work with favor.

And so, forward - leaving what we thought we could do -  for what God is doing currently and continually. Now is the new. Let crisp air fill you with renewed fortitude as you ask for a fresh anointing to continue, make better, begin, correct and carry on.

Here’s to fall. Hello September. Up we go.

I’d love to share some stuff that’s making my filing my fall with all the feels…

Drinks:
At the Starbs - The Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte is delightful. Try it iced if you’ve layered up w/ an extra shot of espresso to cut the sweetness a bit. The Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato is an honorable mention.

Going analog:

I got tired of looking up recipes I’ve already done, finding apps that work for me and, mostly, using my phone to search while my son was trying to get my attention. I went analog. No refreshing or trying to keep the screen on. Plus, she’s cute.

Reading:

One for relaxation, one for action.

“Wildly Loved” is such a beautiful book. It’s a nice space to do something tangible while you recharge the two brain cells your children so graciously left you and be encouraged in the process.

“Fervent” is changing my prayer life. It has taught me how to be more specific in my prayer time and use scripture effectively. My favorite part is there are blank cards in the back to write down your specific prayers as you go.

Scent: Oud Wood & Amber

It smells life fall. And the crackling wood wick helps it sound cozy. Plus it’s beautiful & neutral. All the things.
